We have just removed a boat name on an aluminium boom on a yacht. All of the adhesive has been removed but has left a shadow of the original name. Is there anything we can do to get rid of this?

Yes Brasso is a good option. Alternatively, try Hydrochloric Acid at say 1 in 5 Strength. Rub on with gloves and a nylon scourer. But try a small inconspicuous patch first – it may dull the surface, although Brasso would probably restore it
