I find Sard seems to work well in a final clean for paint brushes. After rinsing most of the paint out, I use about 200 mL freshly boiled water in a container, dip the brush in and out, repeatedly lathering the brush over a cake of Sard to make a solution. Then I use a nail brush to ‘comb out’ the bristles while frequently dipping it in the solution and it leaves the brush very soft when dry. It works better than ordinary soap and far better than detergent which, leaves the brush hard.

I don’t know but probably nothing special. For a prewash your options are essentially an oxidiser (the Preen product works better than the SARD) or an enzyme cleaner (White King make a good prewash)
